Chamber of Commerce Gala

This is a little old, but Justin and I had the opportunity to attend a very fancy event here in Modesto last month. Since Justin's team is somehow associated with the City of Modesto, everyone in his office was invited to attend the 99th Annual Gala & Member Choice Awards. Tickets were $100 per plate, but we got to go in for free! We couldn't turn down a $100 plate of food, so obviously we attended. Since we were still new to the area, we didn't really know/trust anyone to watch JD. Fortunately, since JD's day care is 24/7 we were able to drop him off for a few hours while we went to the gala.

It wasn't at all what we were expecting. We were thinking it was suppose to be a sit down 5 course meal with an awards show. Instead, they had a whole bunch of caterers spread throughout a three-story performing arts theater. We were told there was suppose to be food on the third floor, but no such luck. Having food on two out of three floors was pretty sweet though. Everything was delicious, and it was hard to resist a lot of the food displayed before us.

Although there was a whole bunch of food for us to devour, it was a pretty boring event. We didn't really know anybody there, and had to wait 2 hours until the awards show began. We only had a baby sitter for 3 hours, so we skipped the show and just picked JD up earlier than we anticipated. It was fun to dress up and attend a fancy event though!
