Week 5 Down!

We are on to week 6! I got a phone call from Justin this past Saturday, and was able to talk to him for 10 minutes!!! I got a text from him saying he was going to call, and I got so excited. It felt like it forever before he finally called and we were able to chat. JD was very excited to talk to his dad and chatted with him for a minute before I took over the conversation to find out how the heck he was doing. This was my first phone call in 3 weeks, and a much needed phone call at that! Justin is doing very well. He told me that he is going to get the “Sharpshooter” badge and will have that for graduation. He was very excited about that. Apparently he got a 31 out of 40 in his score, which is why he’ll be getting that badge.

It was hard to figure out what to ask him, as I had so many questions with only a short amount of time. I know that when I see him again, he’ll tell me everything. He’s doing really well though and is making friends along the way, and working hard. We talked about how frequently he gets mail since I’ve been writing every day. He gets it almost every day except the weekend (I guess because “civilians” don’t work on the weekends). He got a letter last week from me saying that I’d send him a notebook and pens in the next couple of days. As he was reading that part of the letter, the drill sergeant called his name and he saw the package in his hand.
He also mentioned that he got letters from his mom, Holly, Tammy, Sophie and Vi, and my parents and he was excited about all of them - just an FYI in case you guys wanted to know!

We talked about different things, but overall he sounds like he is doing just fine. In a letter I just received from him yesterday, he wanted me to make sure that everyone knows he is doing great! Not the most flatting picture of Justin, but it's the only I found in the last round of photos on the Facebook page:
