A long time ago, when it was Memorial Day weekend, we went with the McKissick clan to San Luis Obispo and Solvang and toured the sites. We got into San Luis Obispo pretty late on Friday, and JD had no intention of sleeping that night, so that was a fun... Once we got back on the road the next day to go to Solvang, JD was so tired that he fell asleep within minutes of driving while holding Grammy's iPad.
Once we got to Solvang, we met up with Sean, Rachel, Dean-O and Maggie, and JD was so excited to see his cousins. We walked around Solvang and saw all their cute shops and did the 6 person bike ride (which I can't remember what it's called anymore). The kids loved it for a while at first, that is until we stopped and toured the shops some more. When we got back on, most of the kids were not as happy to be back on.
It was definitely a good work out though! Afterwards, the kids just played at a little park that had a gondola for them to run, dance and have fun on. We said goodbye to Sean & Rachel and the 5 of us headed back to San Luis Obispo
The next day, we stayed in San Luis Obispo and toured the Mission, which JD of course had no interest in. His favorite part of the mission... The Bear fountain.
After the mission, we did something a little more kid-friendly and went to the San Luis Obispo Children's Museum. It was small, but they surprisingly had a lot of stuff for the kids to do and JD loved it!

Dr. McKissick is in!
These were his 2 favorite places to play at:
JD had so much fun playing with the beach ball and the air thing that he fell down the stairs (backwards), but got right up and played again like nothing happened. He's a tough kid! We got back on Sunday night, and rested all day on Monday at home. It was a fun short weekend and the perfect weekend to get away from the heat in Modesto!
