Graduation

I am finally a college graduate! I know my mom didn’t think it was going to happen after I had a baby, but I did it! I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Communications from Brigham Young University – Idaho, and I am so happy that it’s all over. Words cannot express how amazing it feels to finally be able to enjoy being a mother, and not have to worry about another homework assignment again.

I wouldn’t have been able to graduate if it weren’t for some of our amazing friends. Many thanks go out to our dear friends Hannah & Matt and Deanna & Bryce for watching JD while we went off to school. Thank you to our other friends who were able to watch JD at the spur of the moment, and were so willing to watch him.

We had a fun graduation weekend that started last Wednesday. Justin was once again left behind, but would meet us on Friday just in time to make the graduation ceremonies. After our flight was delayed for 45 minutes, we were on our way to Rexburg, ID after stopping in Idaho Falls to find a graduation dress. We visited our old neighbors, Bryce and Deanna, well mainly Deanna and their new baby who was adorable, and enjoyed our time with them.

Thursday, I grabbed graduation tickets, my cap and gown, etc. and then we headed up to Yellowstone for the day. We of course went to see Old Faithful, and visited a few other geysers along the way.

When we got the Old Faithful, we wondered around and stopped at a Castle Geyser that erupts a few times a year. While we were waiting for the geyser to erupt at any moment, JD was happy to be out of his stroller and entertained everyone that was sitting close by.

It kept teasing us, but nothing really happened...

After waiting for an hour, we were ready to get going again and toured other geysers.

Half and hour later, Castle Geyser we had been waiting for earlier finally erupted.

Friday, we shopped and let JD play at the little playground at the mall. Justin’s flight was delayed, so once he arrived, we got ready as quick as we could for graduation, had an early dinner, and made a quick visit to see Bryce and Deanna again since Justin hadn’t seen them after he left in February for his internship.

The speaker at the commencement was Elder Clark from the 1st Quorum of the Seventy. Both the commencement and convocation went faster than I expected, so it made it bearable. There was a lot of standing, and some boring moments, but I’m definitely glad I went and walked. The whole experience made it feel real and gave me a sense of accomplishment!

Can you find me? I'm the one making my way to shake hands...

And there I am at the top of the stairs.

Tired and happy all at the same time!

Afterwards, Justin and I met up with his friend Alex and went bowling, and that completed our trip to Rexburg, ID.

Thank you mom and dad for everything you have given me! I am grateful for your example, and for your love and support through everything.

Justin, you have been so supportive, and an amazing husband throughout this entire experience. I couldn’t have done it without you by my side!

Thank you to all of our friends and family for everything you have done for us!

So, what are the plans, you may ask? Well, I am job hunting... but I am definitely soaking up each moment of just being a mom and hanging out with JD!
