Merry Christmas!!! (A few Days Late)

Justin and I had a nice little Christmas. Although we didn't get a chance to go back home, (since I had to work Christmas Day and be back in Rexburg for work at 7am Tuesday, and my parents didn't want me flying home this pregnant), we still enjoyed the Christmas we had.

Christmas Eve we both had off, and we decided to do a little Christmas Eve dinner for the two of us. It was an easy dinner to put together. We had a 3lb. ham, stuffed baked potatoes, banana and cherry jell-O, salad, rolls, and an Oreo Cheesecake (something I need to master). Everything was really good, and I was a little surprised that everything turned out so well.

On Christmas Day, I had to work from 7am-3pm and then headed down to Salt Lake to spend time with Jeff, Tammy and her family for the majority of our stay, and then to Justin's Aunt's for breakfast Monday morning. We were grateful that we were able to spend time with family, and it was convenient that my sisters-in-law are both from Utah, and it happened to be Christmas with their families this year. It really didn't feel like Christmas with just the two of us at home.

Our weekend consisted of playing "minute to win it," trying out the Kinect (the verdict: tons o' fun), a yummy breakfast at Krissy's, and a game of white elephant, a visit to the Church History Museum, In-N-Out with Sean, Rachel, and baby Dean, and picking out boys clothes from Rachel's sister's stash. (Thanks so much!) JD should now have clothes for his first year! :) He also got some stuff for Christmas from the family, that we cannot wait to try them on him, as always.

I'm so grateful for this time of year, where we dedicate the month to our Savior, and remember all that he has done for us. It's such a blessing to know that we'll be able to return to live with our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ again, and it is made possible because of Christ.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

A Productive Week

The last half of the week has been a very eventful one indeed... at least it felt like it at the time.

We finished our Christmas shopping! It feels so good to be done, and an improvement from last year! I don't know if it helped that we didn't have a mall close by, so at least half of our shopping was done online, causing us to want to purchase gifts early in order to make it a week before Christmas, or just pure luck.

On Wednesday, Justin had a work Christmas party that was very entertaining (after everybody from his company had finally finished talking). They even gave away gifts to all employees. 2 years ago, they gave away iPods, last year they gave away a $75 suitcase, this year.... Well, this was the best year of all... TRACK SUITS!!! really? I still have yet to get Justin to try on the entire track suit and take a picture with it on. Hopefully soon. I wouldn't want you all to miss out on the sexiness of the suit. Oh, and we got a free ham! :)

However, they did have a pretty sweet performance by the Mozart Group. It was a comedic/classical performance. Curious? Take a look:

Thursday, we had our doctor's appointment. It was a normal and quick visit. From now on however, we'll be going in every two weeks for the next 2 visits, and then it's once a week after that! It's getting close!!

Those are the major events that took place... I guess it really wasn't that busy, but we felt accomplished! :)

Christmas Time Is Here!!!

I love Christmas! I love the anticipation of the day, and all the decorations. It always makes me sad when it's passed and you have to wait another long year for it to come around again. But, it's not a special holiday if it's around all year right?

Anyways... we got our Christmas tree last week. After 2 days of searching for real Christmas trees and realizing that the only way of getting a real tree (that we really like) would be to chop it down ourselves. We didn't really want to do that this year, since we weren't really prepared for that, and I would be of no help whatsoever, so we had to settle. We ended up buying a fake tree at Target for $20, and the display looked pretty legit! Even the picture on the box made it look pretty sweet. Here, take a look:

And the tree that came in the box looked like this:

Does that look anything close to what it the box says it's suppose to look like? Didn't think so. I never believe pictures, especially since they can photoshop things to make them look better then they really are. But the display in the store (which by the way had no decorations on it to make it look better) had me convinced it was a fine looking tree. They must've grabbed some branches from our tree to make it look fuller. :(

However, after all the decorations we put on the tree, I must say it looks pretty good.

(more Christmas decorations)

We still have yet to get a star on top, as you may have noticed, but I've seen some promise this year. We just haven't had the chance to purchase one yet. Hopefully this year we'll get one.

Yesterday, we had a little Christmas party with a few friends that we know. Since work gave me a free 14 lb turkey for Thanksgiving, and we never used it, we decided we wanted to share it with friends. There was no way Justin and I could devour it ourselves. This was our first time cooking a Turkey, and it was not a pleasant experience. Neither of us wanted to touch the thing... or the insides. And we didn't defrost it until the afternoon before... so it was still pretty frozen by the time we stuck it in the oven... It took about 4 1/2 hours to cook, rather than 3 1/2. However, when it was ready, it looked pretty good. I wish i had a picture of it before we carved it.

This was actually Justin's first time carving a Turkey as well, and he didn't do too bad of a job! The turkey turned out tasty, and wasn't dry! We were proud of ourselves.

The party was a lot of fun, and we had just the right amount of chairs for our friends who showed up! We did a white elephant as well, and it was pretty hillarious. The boys got the more hilarious gifts. This is what Justin got:

At first glance, what do you think it's for?... Did you think bib?! Because that's exactly what we thought!
HAHAHAH!!! It is in fact not a bib, but a dish towel that hangs over the oven's handle of course! But it could still be used as a bib! Good work Nichole! :) Your gift can be used for two things!

Devin got the gift Justin picked out... Very fashionable!

And Jacob got this lovely hat. Put them all together and this is what you get:

A good looking set of men!

And just because it's getting closer and closer to the big day, here I am very tired after the party and clean up at 31 weeks!
 Ta da!

Coming to the End.

Well, Christmas has come and gone, and Justin and I have received presents that we both love! I got an awesome new camera from my parents, the big top cupcake, clothes, candy, and the third book of Twilight from my sister. :) On top of that, from Justin's side of the family, a sweet fatty bean bag, which I have decided to call "Fromp" (for no particular reason), clothes, kitchen goodies, make up, more sweets, another ice cream maker, and lots of little goodies! :)

Justin and I knew what we were already getting each other for Christmas (He wanted Modern Warfare 2, and he was getting me an iPhone-still waiting, patiently might I add :D), and so we decided to get each other secret gifts on the side. He got me a sweet pair of cleats! (In which I was in dire need of, and I miss playing soccer horribly, even though my soccer skills are not to be exposed). And I got him an A's t-shirt with his last name and favorite number on back, plus A's cuff-lings, which he did not have for the wedding, and really wanted them.

Our first Christmas together was fabulous. It was Justin's year with his family, and it is such a huge change from the Christmas's I have with my little family. I loved every minute of it!

As I reflect on this past year, there have been so many blessings that have happened in both our lives. We have had plenty of ups and downs, but we're so grateful for the Lord, and his love and guidance. We're truly blessed to have a family who loves and supports us. We hope that the new year brings you bliss! Happy New Year!

Here's some pictures, taken by my new camera!

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful!

Wow, I don't ever remember California being this cold! As of right now the current temperature in Concord is 34 degrees, and yahoo is saying that there is light snow. Huh? Snow in Concord? Weird, I know, but I saw some snow on the hills of Mt. Diablo today, which is not too far from our house! I can't believe it's that cold. However, I can't help but think this is Idaho on a warm day.

In other news, our tree is slowly starting to look more festive as the month progresses. We now have presents sitting underneath the Christmas tree, and we got a new ornament from Justin's mom! I was excited! :)

Nothing much else going on. I just wanted to vent about the weather. :) Stay warm!

p.s. I hate snow.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Our house is finally beginning to look like Christmas already. We bought our tree last Saturday, and have put on lights, garland, a few glass ornaments, and two cute little ornaments. Due to our small budget, and newlywed status, we have yet to cover the tree completely with decorations. We still have years and years to go until the tree is complete. One thing missing from the tree, that I feel is vital, is an angel at the top, or some sort of decoration that fits on top of the tree. We still have 22 days left 'til Christmas, and I'm determined to find one! Here's what our tree looks like so far and our two cute ornaments:

(that was the best picture I could take of this little guy)

In other news, two more weeks left until the semester is over, and I am excited about not having to worry about my online classes after coming home from work for at least a month. I know Justin is thrilled about actually having full days off, since he has Wednesdays and Thursdays as his days off from work, he still has school to go to during the day. I know he'll be quite the happy camper for a month. He looks forward to spending the entire month playing his Xbox. Thrilling...

The end!
