So far, Justin is doing well, however he hasn't started Basic Combat Training (BCT) yet, which will start tomorrow. Justin got in to Fort Jackson, South Carolina late Tuesday night, at around midnight local time. His day started at 4:30am with a flight headed to Atlanta with one stop in between, and then a bus ride up to Fort Jackson.
The rest of the week included filling out paperwork, getting his hair chopped, his uniform, dog tags, and as far as I know, one night of "watch"... which I was told was basically a practice of a real watch/guard (I don't really understand the army slang much just yet). He has formation every night, which is where they tell them what they'll be doing the next day. Justin was able to keep his phone throughout the week and texted me everyday and sent pictures of his haircut, uniform, and dog tags.
So far he's been waking up pretty early, which is to be expected at boot camp, and will wake up anywhere from 3-4:30am. Tomorrow, he will be waking up at 2am and will be shipping out to BCT and will learn what group/battalion he'll be in, and will finally know the address we can send letters to. Apparently, Fort Jackson is huge and there are a lot of places for these guys to move to. The downside is he'll be loosing his phone tomorrow (which I have been expecting him to lose all week), and we will have a limited amount of time to talk to him throughout the duration of Boot Camp... I have a small window of opportunity to talk to him tomorrow, and if I miss it, then that's it.
JD continues to hang in there like a champ and is still, for the most part, a happy camper. He's been a great buddy and a huge help in keeping me busy and I am loving every minute I have with him.
I hate this picture of me, but just throwing that out there that I'm 26 weeks and feeling good! Getting that much closer to meeting baby number 2!!!
You are a saint!!! My husband is gone for ONE week for business and I am all sorts of a teary-eyed lonely mess (coming home to an empty apartment after a long day at work is the worst!). Good luck Megan!
