One Day Down, Less Than 60 to Go!

Until our family is reunited again for good (the number above is just a rough estimate). Justin left this morning, just before 9. It was tough on everybody... and I'm hoping today was the worst of it. If it was this hard to watch Justin leave, I can't imagine how hard it was for Justin to leave the both of us.

JD was fairly good today though, so that made things without Justin around a little bit easier. He kept himself busy with this little guy:

As you may, or may not, tell he is trying to turn that empty box around... He didn't figure it out, so I stopped it there.

P.S. - We love & miss you Justin. We are so proud of you! :)

Last Date Night...

...For the next little while at least. Our neighbors were kind enough to watch JD again (have I mentioned how awesome they are before? They watch JD when we go to classes, and when we need a date night).

We had a lot of fun. We first went to the temple and did sealings, which I thought was awesome. It's a nice little change up and it happened to be a great experience for the both of us. Right after we went to the temple, we went to go snowboarding/skiing. The last time we went to a Skiing resort was 2 years ago, and I tried snowboarding. I wasn't very good at it, and I wanted to see what it was like to go skiing again since I hadn't done it since I was in middle school.

Turns out, I just suck at EVERY sport. I did fairly well getting off the lift, however, 20 feet after going down a STEEP slope, I crashed into a snowboarder. I did warn him right before I hit him by saying "SORRY SORRY SORRY!!!!" ::CRASH:: I clipped him right between his legs with one of my skis, and lost the other. I felt awful. He was very nice about it though. He did mention that he used to crash into people all the time when he first started out.... this wasn't my first time. :(

I learned the reason as to why I suck at snowboarding and skiing... I'm a big whimp, and I'm not afraid to admit it! I hate going down fast because I'm afraid of crashing hardcore. (Yes, I am that much of a girl...) I only went down once, while Justin went down twice. He went before I did because I needed to go to the bathroom. Fortunately, the price for snowboarding/skiing there is very cheap, thanks to being BYU-I students.

After a little run, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and enjoyed ourselves with some tasty wings and huckleberry lemonade! It was wonderful. It was a good last date!

JD's 1 Year Stats

JD continues to be healthy and strong. The doctor said that he is a healthy baby, and is progressing just fine. He is in his 40 percentile for height and is now 19.6 lbs and in the 8 percentile. The doctor said we can round up his weight and we can now put him in his new, front facing car seat! We put him in it for the first time yesterday, and he loved it! Justin describes his facial reaction as "being on a roller coaster--he's scared, but enjoys the ride at the same time."

He is always trying to head towards the stairs in our house, and can make it to the top a few times a day. He will always walk against the wall (as shown below), and round the corner to the stairs.

Today, during the super bowl game at our neighbors' house, he saw his little buddies going down the stairs, and he would try and copy them! Observe (sorry, it's dark):

I can't believe how big this kid is getting. He is no longer a baby anymore, and it makes me kind of sad, but I'm excited for the new adventures that lay ahead of him.

JD Turns 1

I can't believe that exactly 1 year from today, our life completely turned upside down. I still remember when we went into the hospital late Sunday night to find out that we would be having a baby Monday morning. I have loved being a mother, and I feel like I have been blessed with having JD in my life. Even when JD has been cranky all day, my love for him never diminishes.

After a year on this earth, JD can now:

Crawl
Eats baby food as well as some table food - he actually prefers eating our stuff, rather than his stuff
He gets all over the place, whether it be crawling, or walking around pieces of furniture in order to get to where he needs to go (He loves touching a printer)
He can climb the stairs
He can say "dadda" and "mamma" (unintentionally)
He has at least 8 teeth (that includes the teeth that are poking out of the gums)
He loves it when we sing "itsy bitsy spider," especially when we do the hand movements
Loves watching sports, just like his dad!
Absolutely loves attention!

Just a Random Update Post

Since I have been taking a few random pictures of JD, I figured I might as well share them on the blog, and include some updates on our lives. So far, we have just been enjoying the last few weeks with Justin around. He will be leaving in 2 weeks to go back to California to do his internship for the Modesto Nuts, starting on February 13. So far, we have decided that I will keep JD throughout the remainder of February, and I will bring JD back home the first weekend in March, since I will be busy with finishing up the semester and trying to pack/clean. We are so grateful that Justin's internship is close enough to family, and can watch JD so we don't have to pay a babysitter, or feel awful for not paying our friends to watch him. I will come back home after the semester is over in the first week of April and hopefully do an internship. I am in the process of looking for one as we speak. In relation to all this, we have found people to sublease our apartment, so we can come back to it in the Fall! I am so excited and happy about it since I love the apartment we're staying in.

JD is living and loving life. He keeps getting more teeth - he has at least 5 visible, and two more coming in at the top. We have been trying to feed him more baby food on a regular basis. So far, he really only wants to eat rice cereal and bananas. He will eat carrots and sweet potatoes, but that has become a little bit more of a challenge. I give him bananas often, just because he just takes it so much easier than anything else. He has been loving his new toys from his birthday party and can officially crawl! He is also learning to go up the stairs in our apartment.

Celebrating JD's 1st Birthday

JD still has at least a week and a half before his actual birthday, but when we were sending out invitations, we didn't know whether or not Justin would be starting his internship on the 26th of this month, or if he would start in February. After the invitations were sent, we found out he would be starting his internship in February, so we celebrated a little early.

We had a lot of fun, and JD had fun celebrating with our friends and his friends. It turned out pretty well, and if I had the time and resources, I would've decorated our place better, but I was pretty happy with the results. It was suppose to be baseball themed, so I did everything kind of sporty. I made JD a "happy birthday" banner, and had extra fabric from it, so I just dressed up the rest of the living room with banners going across the room. I also put JD's pictures over a year's span above the "concessions" table.

His cake smash did not turn out the way any of us expected it to be. After we blew out his candle, we set the cake on his high chair, and we let him at it. Except, he just sat there and poked at it a little. Every once in a while he'd lick off the icing off from his fingers, but he just wasn't that into it. It was kind of disappointing. I put cheerios next to the cake and on top of it (He usually goes crazy with cheerios on his tray).

When that didn't work, we put a spoon into the cake, hoping that would help a little bit.

Didn't change the situation much at all.So his little buddy tried to help him...

Still nothing! It looked as if his little friends were doing what JD should've done with their cupcakes...

So, we just gave up and got him out and cleaned the little bits of cake and frosting on him. We eventually moved on to presents, and he seemed to enjoy that a lot more. He got...

Yes, that number represents my age. My birthday was this last Saturday (January 7th), and I had a lot of fun. It was a nice day to relax, and Justin and I had some fun that night. Our (awesome) neighbors were eager to watch JD for us that night, so that we could have a night to celebrate. It was so nice just to go out, the two of us, as it doesn't happy often anymore. Our original plan was to go to Olive Garden, but it was a 45 minute wait, and I did not want to wait that long, so we opted for Chili's! Afterwards we went to see We Bought A Zoo, and it was a cute movie. Instead of having cake, we went to Cold Stone to celebrate, since we had people over the next day, and I didn't want to have a huge cake only for Justin and I to eat (from Cold Stone, of course). Cold Stone made bank from us that night....

I got some awesome gifts! I got a new diaper bag, a more professional flash for my camera, and money to spend however and where ever I want. :)

JD's First Haircut

JD's first hair cut was on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 (just in case you wanted to know...). We had his hair cut done by Justin's cousin Chelsea, who is an awesome hairstylist by the way. :) JD did pretty good for the most part. He first sat in the chair and would flinch a little when she would brush through his hair.

By the end of it, though, he was done being still and started to move all over the place, and we ended up having to hold him, which meant that we got to have JD's hair all over us! It was so weird to see him with such short hair, but now that I'm use to it, I love it! Thanks Chelsea! :)

The Christmas Break Post

Finally, I have finally found the opportunity to blog about our 2 weeks of "Home Sweet Home." Christmas break was awesome! As you saw earlier in my posts, we started off our break down in the LA area and went to Disneyland, Medieval Times, and had family pictures taken. We also learned that Justin was offered an internship with the Modesto Nuts, and we're still trying to finalize our plans.

We made our way back up home and we got to see both sets of families. We went to the city one night to do Secret Santa gifts within the McKissick siblings, and ate at Buca di Beppo. Christmas was with the McKissicks this year, but we got to sneak in some visitation time with my family when we had breaks. Christmas Eve, we went bowling with the McKissick Family, then stopped by at my parents home to hang out. Afterwards, we headed over to Justin's Grandparents home for Christmas Eve Dinner, the reading of the Jesus' birth (presented by the children), White Elephant, and the exchanging of gifts.

Christmas morning still continues to be exciting, but it was even more exciting because it was JD's first Christmas! He got some awesome toys, which include a walker, a remote control toy airplane, a sweet car track thing, and plenty of Cars cars. Justin got a GPS for his car, Psych Season 2 (which completes his collection, for now), a deep fryer, and other odds and ends. I got some fun photography stuff! I got a new lens, and accessories for a in-home DIY photography studio! Our trip to Disneyland & Medieval times was part of our Christmas present. :)

After Christmas, JD got a haircut for the first time (which I will blog about in another post), and we went to Old Sacramento before attending a Jimmer Game (aka, Kings game). It was a lot of fun. Of course, the Kings didn't win, but it was still so fun. We had a little Jimmer cheering group surrounding us. It was awesome. Justin and I also gave each other our late Christmas presents to ourselves... Jimmer Jerseys!!! We are officially Kings fans now.

We went to a couple other kids outtings such as museums, and children's parks. We enjoyed our time in California and being so close to family. I miss living back at home, and I hope that we get to return to the Bay Area after we are done with school!

JD is 11 Months!

Less than one month away until JD is a year old! I cannot believe it! He is moving all over the place now. He can't officially crawl yet, but he is kind of crawling. He does this thing where he pushes off of one leg, then sits back down. He does this repetitively until he gets to where he wants to be. This kid also loves to walk, as long as he has something to grab onto. As long as there is something nearby, he'll have one hand on one thing, and reach out for the thing he wants to get to, and somehow makes it across the room (if it's set up for him to do so). Everyone thinks that he'll be walking soon, and I'm kind of hoping he does, just because he took so long to start crawling.

He talks (babbles) all the time, and tries to have conversations with other babies/kids in stores. It's so cute! He loves attention and is quite the happy kid!

Justin & The Modesto Nuts

In the beginning of December, Justin had the opportunity to attend the Baseball Winter meetings. What is the Baseball Winter meetings you ask? It’s an opportunity for MLB general managers and owners to get together in a close proximity. Agents are usually there as well to help sell their free agents. It use to be a lot more useful before the age of technology, but now it’s more like a celebration. However, there is an attached job fair, which was the whole reason Justin went down there. Justin went around sending teams his resume, and had interviews with 3 interviews, and had a second interview with the Modesto nuts, giving him a total of 4 interviews while he there. He also had the privilege of meeting the head of MLB-business public relations, who sat down and talked to him, as well as some other important people who passed by, for an hour and a half. He learned a lot of valuable information from them, and was grateful for the time he got to talk to them.

A couple days later, he got an e-mail from the Modesto Nuts saying they were very interested in him and wanted him to send them some references. He then also had another interview with the people he could possibly be working with. A week and a half later from that e-mail that he received, he found out that he received the internship and will be interning with the Modesto Nuts! Plans are currently in the process of what’s is going to be happening next semester. We’ll keep you updated with that. As of right now, we are just grateful that Justin has this opportunity, and is one step closer to his dream job! (His dream job is working for a MLB team as their PR guy) He will be doing group sales and public relations! We’re all very proud of him!

LA Fun

So we did more than just Disneyland and Medieval times. We were fortunate enough to stay at my brother and sister-in-law’s place, and we did a lot of stuff the day of Medieval times. Rachel took us to this place called “The Griddle,” that has the most delicious eggs benedict and enormous pancakes! It was hard and easy to stop eating, since that stuff is so sweet that if you eat way too much, you’ll feel sick. Great food though!

We also went to the Chinese Theater in Hollywood and checked out the hand prints and signatures of famous actors and actresses. Later that afternoon, before Medieval times, we got our family pictures taken by NicolePriest, a girl that Sean and Rachel know in their ward. It was quick and painless, just like Justin likes, and I absolutely loved the way the pictures turned out! She was so quick about it; we got them back late that night! We have many favorites! Here is more than half of them!

Disneyland & Medieval Times

Our Christmas present from Justin’s parents was a trip to Disneyland and Medieval times, which we thought was fabulous. The trip started Saturday morning and ended Sunday night in LA. We thought for JD’s sack, we’d better split up the driving times. He did so well the entire trip.

This was JD’s first Disneyland trip and he loved every minute of it! Whenever we thought he was tired, we’d put him in his stroller, hoping he’d eventually fall asleep. However, that wasn’t the case. He was just so fascinated by everything that was going on that he couldn’t fall asleep. He wanted to take in every moment of it.

We did a lot of stuff while we were there, even with all the crowds. We went on Buzz Lightyear, the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Jungle Cruise, The Little Mermaid ride, Small World, and Justin and I switched off baby duty and rode Tower of Terror and the new Star Tours. Ok, maybe that doesn’t look like a whole lot, but considering how long we stayed there and the lines that we encountered, it felt like it was a lot. We got there at 9 am, and our original plan was to stay until 10 or 11 pm, or until JD just couldn’t take it anymore. However, it wasn’t JD who couldn’t take it anymore, it was Justin and I who were just so exhausted that we left at 6:30!

It was definitely a fun trip though, and we made sure we got JD his first set of Mickey ears, and the main pictures in front of the castle, and the main entrance to Disneyland. It was too crowded to stop and take pictures, so I don’t have very many of us/him in the park.

The next day, Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have Sean and Rachel baby sit JD while Justin and I went to Medieval times (thanks again Sean and Rachel!) It was a lot of fun as well, and the food was surprisingly delicious. We were on the Red & Yellow team, and our knight wasn’t doing so hot in any of the games they did, and he was the second person to die in the jousting festivities…. Still fun though! We upgraded our tickets to premium seating, and got our slice of cake (more like an apple turnover type thing). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the trip, and had lots of fun! Thank you Gerry and Kelly for our awesome Christmas Present!

Lollipop!

When JD had his first flu shot last month, the nurse asked if it was ok for JD to have a lollipop. It shocked me for a moment that a nine month old would be able to have a lollipop. I said "sure." After his shot, he of course was not happy. I then tried to comfort him with a new food type, and that did not seem to please him at all.

Today, he had his second dose of the flu shot, and they once again asked me if it was ok to give him a lollipop. I said, "yes!" After the last experience, I didn't think he would like it. However, somewhat hopeful, I stuck it in his mouth, and he sucked on it. He didn't give me a look of disgust, and continued to keep it in his mouth.

I admit... not the best picture. Although, the sun was in his eyes.

On top of that, he is starting to feed himself! Well, with the puffs at least. I caught it all on video! :)

JD's First Christmas Ornament

I finally accomplished a craft! It's been too long since I've done anything crafty, thanks to school, so it was kind of nice to get back into it again. It is not perfect at all in the slightest, and it was kind of frustrating to try and get it right. I'll probably want to do one more, just in case something happens to this one.

Thanksgiving Break... Two Weeks Late

Going home for Thanksgiving was very much needed! It was so nice to see family again, and to just be home in general. This post will have more pictures than text, so I'll just make things brief.

Tuesday: Went to the Oakland Zoo and saw tons of animals. Afterwards I went to my sister's chamber concert, while Justin and his family was stuck with the JD, and he apparently was the worst that night.

Wednesday: We went out to eat at this place in Berkeley called Fat Apple. It was delicious! That night we went over to my parents place, ate dinner, and just relaxed.

Thursday: Thanksgiving!!! Ate yummy food and hung out with family. Best day ever! :)

Friday: We went to the zoo again, but this time the San Francisco Zoo. It was huge, and the best part was how close we were able to get to the Lions. They had these little cages inside a building, and they would switch the cats in and out in order to change their environment. It was amazing to see how big these cats really are up close. Afterwards, we went to eat some yummy Korean food. How I miss it!

Saturday: We went out to the city to see all the decorations, went to the park, saw the Oakland Temple lights, and had the "best" chinese food in Oakland (and it was pretty stinkin' good!)

Sunday: We spent time with both of our families and were able to relax.

Monday: We did our Christmas shopping so we could leave it at home, so that we wouldn't have to bring it back with us on the way back for Christmas break. Then, we finally had to go home. :( It was so hard to leave the warm beautiful weather. I can't wait to go back in a week and a half!!!

JD is 10 Months

Ok, JD turned 10 months a couple weeks ago... but now that the busiest week of the semester is over, I finally have time to blog. Whew!

JD isn't exactly loving life right now... He has been having all the teething symptoms and has another diaper rash after he just finished having one a week ago. I feel so bad for the little guy. :(

Aside from the sad things in life, I'm hoping JD will start moving at any moment. He still rolls around everywhere to get where he needs to go. However, he is constantly starting to sit up on his own once he's had enough time laying down. There are times in the middle of the night where he'll wake up and start crying, and he's already sitting up. He is on the verge of crawling though. Any day now... I realize I probably keep saying this... but it has to be any day now! It's been a while since he hasn't been able to crawl. Maybe he's just being considerate to me and he'll start crawling once school is out, that way it's once less thing for me to worry about. :) (Yeah right!)

This kid just keeps growing and growing, and in less than 2 months he'll be 1!!! I can't believe it. Time flies when your having fun.

JD & Santa

JD did really well with meeting Santa for the first time, although he wasn't excited to be sitting on some weird guys laps, and was about to cry once the pictures were all done. Good timing JD. More pictures to come from our trip back home over the Thanksgiving break.

JD's 9 Month Stats

This kid is definitely growing! He may not be the chunkiest kid in his age group, but he definitely isn't the smallest anymore either!

He now currently weighs 17.34 lbs and is in the 4%tile.
However, he is standing at 28 3/4 inches tall and is in the 59%tile!!!! Yay for JD!
And, if anyone cares, his head circumference is 18 inches, making him in the 57%tile.

The doctor said he looks happy and healthy and that is all that matters to us. It doesn't hurt that he's in a higher percentile for height too! :D

Our Funny Kid

Have I mentioned how much I love this kid? He is slowly turning into a little person and I can't believe how much he's grown. For instance, whenever I'm doing something that requires me to leave JD alone for a minute or two, I usually sit him in his crib and he's happy with stuffed animals and his blanket. Yesterday, while I was putting away laundry, I came back into his room and saw him standing along side the railing of his crib! He had pulled himself up all by himself to stand! I was scared for a moment because it shocked me, then laughed realizing what he had done! He showed me how he did it when he fell down. I first grabs on to his bumper then slowly pulls himself up, and once he can reach the railing of his crib, he is finally standing! If only this kid would start crawling already. I keep thinking at any moment he's going to surprise us and start crawling... hasn't happened yet.

I feel like such a bad mom sometimes. I have no idea what I'm doing, and what I should be feeding him. Concerned about it, I remembered a pamphlet I got when he was 6 months old on guidelines of what I should be feeding him. Justin and I noticed that he can be eating crackers at this age, and so Justin fed him goldfish for the first time today. I couldn't help but capture the moment.

It's amazing how fast time is flying by... I realize I probably say this in every post that marks another month that has gone by, but it never ceases to amaze me. He gets bigger, cuter, and funnier every day. Justin has recently been trying to get him to say Dad or Dada (whichever comes first really). It kind of sounds like he's saying it, but he's not really there yet. We're still waiting for this kid to crawl, although he is pretty good at turning himself in a full circle when he is sitting down. One minute he's sitting in down in the position you sat him down in, the next he's done a 180 (or sometimes on the ground because he's reached for a toy and hasn't mastered crawling yet). You can tell JD wants to start crawling (at least to me). He'll start reaching forward for a toy, and once he's reached it, he usually ends up on his tummy. Since he hates tummy time, he'll roll over on his back. It gets a little frustrating, but all in good time.

By the way, just thought I'd give a shout out to my dad and say Happy Birthday a day late (Oct. 31st). Love ya!

JD's First Halloween

We had a really hard time coming up with a "family" costume. Justin was very picky, and needed to have a manly costume. So, he came up with The Green Hornet. He was the Green Hornet, obviously, I was Kato (because I'm Asian), and JD was suppose to be mini Green Hornet, after all he is a Jr. However, we couldn't find a green tie or a green jacket for him, so that made things a little difficult.

JD wouldn't wear his mask, which we figured he wouldn't. But we were able to get a picture of him with his mask on! He never wore it again after that.

Our ward party was last night, and it was a little lame, which wasn't really a surprise since most of the people in the ward are just married, have no kids, or have kids that are still little babies, so there wasn't much of anything for the kiddies. I'm looking forward to family wards again, and when JD understands the concept of Halloween! It's still more exciting that we have JD in our lives and that we get to celebrate the upcoming Holidays with him.

On a side note, Happy Birthday to my Mother-in-Law! :) I hope your day was amazing!

So the other night, since JD was being really fussy, and I got desperate. Now, when that happens, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make him happy. Lately, he loves playing peek-a-boo with his blanket, and just playing with his blankets in general. While he was in his "jumper toy thingy," I decided to put his blanket over him and his jumper. Here is the result:

He absolutely loved it and bounced around and went all over the place! Silly concept, yet it made him happy, which in turn made me happy.

The Latest Happenings

I know it's been a while, but it's been busy the last few weeks, and not much has really happened up until last week. My parents came to visit us for a week, which was really handy. My mom hadn't seen JD since his baby blessing in April, so it was fun seeing them interact together. JD is at that stage where he kind of has that separation anxiety, so it took some warming up for JD to get use to my mom and dad again. We got some pictures taken (for a class assignment), went apple picking at the school orchard, and of course, a visit to Idaho Falls. It was good to see them again. Thanks mom and dad! :)

After my parents left, Justin, JD, and I went to this place called Bannack Ghost Town in Montana. It is a required class field trip for my digital imaging class, but since I couldn't go with the class (the field trip is on Thursday from 9am-11pm) and we just didn't think we could leave JD with someone for that long, we went on our own. It was a neat place, and I'd totally go back there again when it's warm. I think it may have been a little too cold for JD. Justin has been busy, as always. He still loves his internship, and is still an awesome husband and dad!

JD is still not crawling... we're working on his tummy time, but he still hates it and rolls over onto his back. And that's the latest!

JD is 8 Months!

Well, in technical terms he's probably only 4 months, since the last 8 months, there have only been 4 months that contained 31 days in the month. It's always hard to judge when we can really say he's a month older. Is it on the 30th, or the 1st of the month? Oh well, he's 8 months! He's 4 months away from a year! It always blows my mind how fast the month has gone by already.

He has only once, finished a whole jar of baby food, and it was applesauce (I think). He rolls around like crazy. Sometimes, when we sit him up on the bed, he'll lay down and roll over to the edge and we have to stand near the edge, or pick him up and put him back in the middle again. We are constantly keeping a closer eye on him. We're still waiting for him to crawl, and we're hoping this is the month... He is a really good sitter, and is constantly reaching out for things and then will slowly tumble either on his stomach or on his side. He moves around so much when he's sleeping. It always gives us a good laugh when we check on him in the middle of the night and see him with his head down at where his feet are suppose to be, or snuggled against the corner of his crib. I would take pictures of him, but I'm afraid I'd wake him up.

He used to say, "ma ma ma ma ma," but ever since I posted about him saying that he stopped doing it, and it makes me sad. It was so stinkin' cute! He's doing well, and makes us laugh on a daily basis!

Seriously, it feels as if we are on the go, and doing something for school, or work. Justin keeps himself pretty occupied with his internship and writes for KSL.com pretty much every other day. He also leaves for Logan, UT every other weekend to watch the Utah State home games, but I know he loves every minute of it.

My classes are definitely keeping me busy this semester. I'm either out taking pictures for my photography class, or stuck inside reading something for a class assignment. I'm loving my photography class though! I'm learning so many neat tricks with photoshop, and getting to learn my SLR camera.

How's JD you ask? He is just fine and dandy! :) He has recently been saying, "ma ma ma ma ma ma." I seriously doubt he has any idea what he's saying, but it's so funny to hear it! He also goes pretty much wherever we go, or take him. We have amazing friends who babysit him when we're out at work/class, and he is constantly going with me on our "photography" walks. He's a good sport about it, most of the time.

New Beginnings

Well, the beginnings of the Fall Semester has begun, and so far everything has been going well. Justin seems to be happy with his classes so far. His biggest concern at first was his Creating Online Media class, since he was worried that his expectations of the class would not be met. (Creating Online Media has to do with html and css-web building). So far, it is exactly what he expected, which is a good thing. Justin is taking 16 credits, which includes his internship with KSL.com. He covers the Utah Aggies (if you didn't read in my last post), and so far he has been to one home game. He even has his own seat in the Utah State's press box, which comes with free food.

Once again, I'm taking a full load, and I'm getting a little more worried, as JD is beginning to sleep less and less. He is now at 2 naps a day for about an hour and a half. The class that worries me most is my intro to graphic design. Apparently, it's one of those classes that "weeds" people out, so the ones that are actually serious (or can actually do graphic design) end up staying. I'm nervous because I didn't realize how much art was going to go into it (silly me). We'll see if I last in that class.... On the other hand, I am taking a digital imaging class which has to do with photography and editing, and I'm really excited about it. I'm hoping I'll get to learn my DSLR camera better, and get better with my photo skills.

I've also managed to get a new job at a sandwich place called Jimmy John's. The hotel I'm working for is currently owned by the bank, and it's only a matter of time before someone buys it, and turns it into student housing, because I know that the hotel will not last much longer. So, I'm relieved to have found a new job before they start laying off people. I start training on Thursday.

On a random note: JD and I took a walk through the gardens here on campus to take pictures for my graphic design class, and we stumbled across an apple orchard. So, I took advantage of the opportunity and got some pictures of him. This might be my new favorite place to take pictures.

Getting My Craftiness On

Yes, padded chair covers. I started these at the end of June, and just finished them last week. They may not be the prettiest things, but they work well for what they're suppose to be used for.

Saturday, Justin went down with Matt Harris to the Utah State game in Logan (they're both doing an internship for KSL.com covering the Utah State Aggies). So, Matt's wife, Hannah, and I got together for a girls night, and we made wreaths! This is what it looked like.

When Justin came home, he complained that the M was pink, and was not happy about it. So, I ended up painted the M to this:

Our Fun Filled Weekend

We have had an eventful couple of days this past weekend. It all started on Friday afternoon. It was a beautiful day, it wasn't super hot, and it wasn't cold. It was perfect weather for a picnic. As you can see below, JD was definitely eying Daddy's burger.

After we were done eating, we headed over for the swings to see if JD would like it better this time.

If you can tell by his face, he really did not like it any better. Rather, he looked as if he was scared for his life.

I was debating all day whether or not we should go to the Idaho Falls Chukars game (a single A minor league baseball team in affiliation with the Kansas City Royals), since they were having firework night. My major concern was that it was going to be past JD's 9 o'clock bedtime, and that he was just going to be awful. At a last minute decision, we decided to go since we didn't even get to see fireworks on July 4th, since I had to work.

JD was awesome! Although, we knew that he was tired, and he was definitely showing it, he refused to fall asleep. We took turns walking him and standing around just so he'd be happy. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, and did not document the trip. The good picture I have of the fireworks is this:

Saturday, we were invited to one of the members of our new ward's house to watch the BYU game. We now know more people in our new ward than we did our last two wards. So far, we are liking our new ward, and are making new friends faster than we would've expected. I'm so glad, since we now have a kid, and we need to be the ones to make friends so that JD has friends. BYU won, and JD couldn't have been more shocked! :P

School starts next week, and I'm not sure whether to or not to be excited... on the one hand, that means one less semester to go. On the other hand, school starts. We'll see how this semester goes!

JD's Favorite Foods

This is more of a note for me. So far, I know he definitely likes carrots and bananas. I don't feed him baby food as much as I should, mainly because feeding him the bottle is so much easier. But, I'm going to try harder and get him to eat as much baby food as he possibly can!

7 Months

Today, JD is 7 months and I'm always amazed as to how fast time continues to go by. He is constantly reaching for things, he can sit up by himself for a good amount of time before he topples over because he's reaching for a toy or something within his grasp, and can now sit in high chairs! We're always amazed how much harder it is to carry him around in his car seat, and are beginning to leave the car seat in the car. He has officially cut his first tooth, or is at least beginning to. We can't see it just yet, but we can definitely feel it poking out. We love this little boy, and don't know what we'd do without him.

JD is getting so good at sitting up by himself. We've officially moved him into booster seats at restaurants, and was able to sit up today for at least 20 minutes against the back of the church benches all by himself.

I'm Getting Trunky

For those of you who don't know what "trunky" means, Urban Dictionary explains it best: "Restless, antsy (2). Specifically, eager to leave or go home. Possibly referring to "packing one's trunks."

We (or I) have a year and a half of school left, and we're stuck here until then. It's sad that we have to go through 2 more very cold winters. It's sad that we are stuck in Middle of Nowhere Idaho. It's sad that our baby boy is stuck here because of us. I miss the warm California sun, and being back home where family is close. I keep wishing this was our last year here, and yet the sad, brutal truth knocks me right back down and I have to somehow ignore that we're here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to school at BYU-Idaho, but I want to graduate already.

I guess I should be grateful that I only have a year and half left...

JD's 6 Month Check Up

Yesterday, JD had another check up, and his last couple of immunizations until he's 12 months. He's still tiny, as to be expected. Here are his stats:

Weight: 15 lbs 3 oz - 5%
Height: 26 inches - 18%
Head: 17.5 inches - 57%

Apparently, JD has gone down in height, and he was at 32% last time. Oh well, he appears to be healthy, and teeth are beginning to come in at the bottom. I looked at his gums today, and I can see a little white poking through in the front. He's been a bit more fussy lately, but somehow we still find him adorable. :)

Cabo, Cabo, Cabo!

We are back from our trip from cabo, and it’s very bitter sweet to be back home. We have had a lot of fun, but are glad to be back where it is no longer hot and humid. I’ll try and keep this to as little words, and more pictures, as there are many pictures from our trip.

We officially left the States Friday morning, and got to Cabo late afternoon. JD was for the most part pretty good on the plane ride over. The hotel we stayed at was awesome, as we all got rooms to ourselves. Saturday evening we adjusted to Cabo and went out for dinner. Sunday was relaxation day, which involved a day at the pool, and happy hour at the pool bar. The (non-alcoholic) pina coladas were lovely! This was also the first time JD went swimming, and he loved it. I’m glad he did, otherwise it would not have been as fun if he hadn’t.

Monday was a big day, and was quite the adventure. We headed out to a nearby beach, as the beach behind our hotel is not exactly ideal for, well, anybody, mainly little kids. We took a glass bottom boat to “Lover’s beach” and saw tons of fishies and some sea lions. We did a little sight seeing around the beach before we took the big leap out of the boat onto the beach. You see, there is no port/dock at this beach for boats to drop people off. Instead, you have to get off the boat into the water, along the waves, to get onto the beach. It was crazy getting off with little kids, however, there were people who helped get them off first. Getting back on the boat was an even bigger adventure.

The beach was amazing though. Justin, Jeff, and Kelly went snorkeling while the rest of us stayed on the beach. This was also another first for JD, and he was a very happy baby, until he got tired.

Tuesday and Thursday were relaxation days, where we enjoyed the day by the pool, and taking naps. Wednesday and Friday we took the bus (or cab if it was a good deal), to beaches. Friday was the high light of the trip for me. We took wave runners out onto the ocean, and it being my first time, I loved it. Every once in a while, I was afraid for my life, since Justin loves speed and going over waves. I grabbed on to him like my life depended on it. During our time out there, we came across what appeared to be a rock, but when we looked closer we realized it was actually a turtle!

Saturday was the sad, sad day where we had to return home. As I reflect upon our trip, it makes me more sad to be back home. It was a fun vacation! Enjoy the pictures!

Two Years

I can't believe that it's already been two years, and I'm looking forward to many more with my fun hubby.

Our main event for the day was a one hour professional massage for $25. It was amazing! The lady came to our house, and we each went one by one, and it worked out so that each of us could watch JD when it was our turn. I have never had a professional massage before, and it was lovely. I want to get another one! Afterwards, we went down to Idaho Falls and celebrated at Red Robin. It was nice to just hang out, like we always do, and JD enjoyed tagging along.

Time has seriously gone by faster with JD around, but I guess that's to be expected. I continue to love every moment I have with Justin. When I get frustrated about something (or with him), or am stressed out, he knows how to make me laugh. When I'm sad, he knows how to cheer me up.When I need help with something, he's usually there to help. :D

We make each other laugh, we make each other mad. He asks for many back massages, and I like to complain, a lot! :) We have our differences, and yet we somehow manage to make this relationship work, and we are still very much in love, even though he likes to make me feel guilty by saying I no longer love him when I refuse to give him back massages. It's tough love my friend. :)

He continues to be a great husband, a wonderful father to our amazing son, and one of the greatest friends I could ever have. I love you Justin. Happy 2 years!

Recipe Blog

Ok, so I'm trying something that may be too hard for me to accomplish... just like my "Crafty New Year" idea. But, what I've decided to do will definitely be beneficial to me, and my family. What I'm trying to do within the next few months is try one new recipe everyday.

I never know what to make, and it takes forever sometimes to find a recipe that's worth making and that we both like. So, this is my "trial and error" period to find out which recipes we like, and which recipes we don't like. When all is said and done, I plan on putting everything into a binder/book full of family favorite recipes. In the meantime, since I've come to love blogging, and I don't really feel like making a book right now, I'll just put it all in a blog. That way, I can also share some of our family favorites with you, in case you need a new recipe every once in a while.

Half Way to Go!!!

Until he's a year old that is. JD is already 6 months old!!! We cannot believe it! He has now begun to sit up by himself and can probably do it for at least a minute before he topples over. If he has something to play with that he can hold on to, he can sit up for much longer! He constantly reaches out for things to play with when it's within he's reach. It's so cute! Whenever I'm looking at my phone and he's sitting on my lap, he'll try and grab it. He always reaches for things when we're sitting at the table. My Dad just got him a high chair so that he now has his own seat and can sit with us when we eat.

We're not sure how much we weighs or how tall he is, and we won't find out towards the end of the month, when he gets his shots.... how I hate those days. He's still tiny, but he is getting bigger, and that's what counts. We still love this guy, and are happy to have him around!

Moving & Family Visits

We have been preoccupied for the last 3 weeks with moving and having family come up to visit us. Moving was the worst, as we have come realize how much crap we actually have. However, we couldn't have moved at a more perfect time than when our family came to visit.

First, Grammy (Kelly) came to visit, and she stayed for 2 weeks. She was so helpful with moving!! While we were in our last 2 weeks of school, she filled her car up with our junk and moved it over to our new apartment everyday! On top of that she helped clean the old apartment, and babysat JD. On her last couple days of visiting, Gramps (Gerry) came up to visit as well, and they helped us get almost everything over. We needed their push to get motivated, otherwise, I have no idea how we'd get it all done.

Last week, my sister Connie came to visit! She and JD got a long pretty well, only when Justin and I were there with her. When we weren't there, JD screamed and cried almost the entire time. We still had to finish moving and cleaning the apartment while she was here, and that is why she was left alone with JD. While here, we went to a zoo down in Idaho Falls. It was small, but it was fun to get out of the house. We tried to convince her that night to try a snow cone up here (since I think they're delish, while Justin thinks they're good, but not as good as I say they are). It wasn't until Monday, when my dad came up to visit for the last couple of days, that he got her to try it. I think she liked it.... but who knows. She's not very vocal about how she feels. :) My mom wasn't able to make it up, unfortunately, but my parents plan to visit again in 2 months.

The only thing I regret about having family over these last few weeks was that we were moving, and finishing school. We had other priorities to attend to, while I would've rather had more time to visit with them. However, Justin and I both know that our families were only here to visit JD. :) So maybe I don't feel so bad. :P Thanks again for all your guys' help and for visiting us!!! :) We miss you already!

Some Fun Things

Well, we are officially done with the Spring Semester, and are now on a 7 week summer break! Within the last 2 weeks we have been trying to finish projects/test/assignments, while moving into our new apartment, and taking care of the baby! We are not very motivated, especially with finals and a baby around. However, Kelly and Gerry were so helpful with helping us move, it was more than we could ask for! THANK YOU!

Pictures of the new place will hopefully be coming soon... it all depends on how fast we get our stuff put away. This place has a lot more living space than storage space, as we have learned. But we still love the place.

We've been blessed to have Kelly here while we finish up for finals. Not only has she helped us out with keeping JD occupied, she has gotten JD to do a couple "firsts." The other day she put him in a swing, which he apparently did not understand how the thing worked. And, she convinced us to go to a stake "Summer Palooza" at the city park, where JD got to go on his first merry-go-round. It's been fun having Grammy around, and we'll be very sad when she leaves on Friday. :(

Justin's birthday was yesterday and is now 25 years young (or old, however you want to look at it). :) It has been so fun getting to know Justin as we continue to grow old together, and continue to be parents together. He has been a great friend, a great husband, and a great father. I love his goofiness, even if it embarrasses me (even though I have no doubt that I embarrass him more). He is one of the funnest, and funniest people you will ever know, and he gets along with just about anyone. He has the talent to make you laugh at the drop of a hat, and a laugh that is so contagious! He is my best friend, and I am grateful that I'm stuck with him for eternity!

Taking a floral design class has it's benefits. Whenever we do a floral design project in class, we not only get to take home the work that we've done, but we also get to take home the extra flowers that we did not use! Now, I don't have very many vases, and I especially don't have any vases that will hold small stemmed flowers, so after looking online for some ideas, I decided to go with this look.

I just used a cute little mug, and I think it turned out cute! :)

So JD had his every 2 month check up today. That also meant he got more shots... poor baby. He gave out a really good cry, and let us know he was not happy to be getting multiple shots. It breaks my heart. Anyway... here's his stats:

Weight: 13.06 lbs and is in the 5% (he went down 4% from the last time)
Height: 25 inches and is in the 32%!! Yay, he has gotten bigger since the last time... but he's still teeny.

Even though he's really small, the doctor says he is a very healthy and strong baby.

To all the great dad's out there, I hope your day has truly been amazing!

I have been so blessed to have one of the greatest dad's in the world. When my mom was unable to do something, my dad was there to step right in. My dad has always been there to give good advice, was always involved in our active lives, and has been a great ref when there have been fights between 3 girls in the home (mom, Connie, and I). He has been a great supporter, a great teacher, and an amazing father. He has helped me through many things, and I'm grateful to have him as my father.

I am also blessed to have a great father-in-law. Once you get passed his serious side, you know how much he truly loves his family, and how funny he is. You know you have a good father-in-law when your husband wants to be just like him. I know Justin is proud of him, and strives to be more like him everyday... I only wish that Gerry's cleaning side would have rubbed off on him too... :)

Justin surprises me everyday with how much he not only loves me, but also his son. You know he wants the best for JD (so that we can "retire early, while JD makes the millions as a professional baseball player"). :) All joking aside, Justin has been an amazing father. He does what he can to provide for our family, and expresses his love for us on a daily basis. It has been so fun to watch JD and him interact. You can tell Justin was meant to be a father. I love both my boys very much, and once again, am blessed to have them in my life.

New Home!

Well, we have found a new place that we're really excited about, and will move into it in the middle of July. Here are the benefits of it: (1) We will be saving $120 a month if you compare it to what we're paying now for rent. (2) It's 2 blocks away from campus. (3) It's a townhouse!! Meaning it's almost 500 more square feet than our current apartment, and we have no one living above us, because we'll be living in a two story home. It really is a steal of a deal. We signed the contract last night and are looking forward to leaving this place. We have been paying so much more than this place is worth, and have learned that other people are paying much less than we are for apartments that are bigger than ours in this complex.

I would show you a picture of our new place, but it would be really awkward to stand out in front of a place we don't live in yet and take a picture of it. But as soon as we move into it, you can expect plenty of pictures!

Remember how I posted about a month ago how things just seemed so difficult and overwhelming at the time? Thinking about what Justin and I have both managed to accomplish within the last 4 months continues to amaze me. When you write it all out, it seems like there's just so much that needs to be done, and it made me wonder how I was going to get past it all. So far, this semester has gone smoother than I anticipated, and I am so grateful that we are getting by, and not by a little.

I can't remember who, but someone told me sometime this last week that when you follow what the Lord asks you to do, and are obedient and faithful to His commands, he will help you and bless you for your obedience. It has made me realize how well things have worked out this semester. We have a dear friend, Hannah, who loves watching JD when I'm in class and when Justin has to work. I cannot thank her enough for her help. Our schedules have worked out so well this semester, however, there are times where schedules may overlap/collide, but somehow we manage to work it out. I'm grateful for the blessings the Lord has blessed us with, and more importantly to have JD in our lives.

Too Many Interests

Lately, I have found myself wanting to do so many things... this includes:

Photography (I've been working a lot with photoshop lately and JD has been a cute model)
Floral Design (My class starts Tuesday!!!)
Graphic Design (Mainly trying to create invitations/cards)
Wedding stuff (After all, I do want to be an event planner)
Crafts (I want to start back with crafts again, I just have yet to find the time)
Interior Design (I at least want to try and decorate the house with new pieces of small furniture or ways to spruce up the apartment... but money kind of puts a damper on that option)

See?? Too many things I want to get involved with, but there really is no time with school and JD. I usually focus on one area at a time, but there are some days where I want to try and do them all. I have done a couple things so far:

Happy 4 Months to my Baby Boy!

Yesterday marked 4 months since JD's birth. I can't believe how fast time continues to fly by. He holds his head up pretty well, and is laughing more often now. I absolutely love it, and him! We're getting closer to him sitting up, crawling, walking, talking, etc! I don't want it to go by too fast, but I do look forward to the day he at least starts to crawl, although I know we're going to have to keep an eye on him at all times. He is such a happy baby, and a smiley one (when he wants to be). We continue to love every minute of him, and are blessed to have the opportunity to get to know him.

Peek-a-Boo!

I've tried playing peek-a-boo a few times before with JD but never really pushed it because he didn't seem to react to it as well as I think he would when he was older. JD Loves to Talk
JD has been quite the talker within the last few weeks or so. Last week at church, he decided he wanted to talk up a storm in Sunday School. I'm sure it was a little distracting, but I couldn't shush him, it was too cute.

The Bumbo
We also got him a Bumbo, a little chair thingy that helps him sit up. He can't really support his head completely, but we figure if we put him in there, it might help him strengthen his neck muscles that way too.

So Many Clothes
JD has a lot of cute clothes that are in the 3-6 months age, and it makes me even happier that he's beginning to fit into almost all if them (there's still a few that may not fit him for a few months).

We Have Our Lives Figured Out

Well, sort of. For those of you who already know, Justin and I are both majoring in Public Relations, however BYU-Idaho requires us to have a minor (or 2 clusters, which is kinda like putting 2 half minors together.. if that makes any sense) . It took us a little while to look around and figure out what we wanted to do and which minors would get us out of here fast. After many searches, we finally declared our minors. Justin has decided to minor in Sports Management, which is (in his own words) "Sports Managing." After he had talked to his adviser about what classes he needed to take, he showed me the list. "You have to take golf?!?" I asked... his response, "Oh darn...." with a nice big grin along his face. He's pretty excited about it, and for such a big sports guy, who wouldn't be?

I took a little bit longer in deciding what I wanted to do, and finding the perfect minor for me. I don't know how I didn't see this before, but I found an event planning cluster, and a graphic design cluster. I'm so excited about it! I've always been interested in graphic design, and the event planning cluster involves floral design! How perfect is that for wanting to get into what I want to do?! (Event Planning) I'm really excited about my event planning cluster, mainly because it has to do with a lot of floral design. There's one class that involves getting ready for a bridal show, and lots of wedding stuff! I'm so excited to learn, and being able to apply it all to my life/career. I'm so excited to graduate!

3 1/2 Months of Motherhood

It definitely hasn't been easy, not that I was expecting it to be, but I love my little boy to death! This semester hasn't really gone the way I planned, in the sense that I'm busier than I wanted to be. At the beginning of the semester, I started out with 9 credits - 2 classes online, and 2 classes on campus (one of them only meets once a week). A week or two later, I decided I wanted to join Sports Marketing so I could fulfill a practicum credit that was part of my major which put me up to 10 credits. I then decided that I wanted to ref soccer on campus so that I could help bring a little bit more money in. A week after reffing, I learned that I needed to be a full time student (12 credits) in order to ref and get paid. So, I added another class, Floral Arrangement (which I'm really looking forward too, and will definitely be beneficial in the career I want to get in-Event Planning), and that put me up to 13 credits! Plus, I still have my job at the hotel, which I work anywhere from 4 to 12 hours a week, depending on when they need me. So in summary:

I am a full time mom
I am a full time wife
I am a full time student
And I work part time

Ok, maybe it doesn't seem like much to you, but I am beginning to feel the effects of everything. My days usually consist of taking care of JD (obviously), and while he takes his naps I try and get some homework done, sometimes while he is sleeping on me because he won't sleep long if he's in his crib or swing during the day. I have one class on Monday, Wednesday, and two classes on Friday. The second part of the semester I will begin my floral arrangement class on Tuesday and Thursday nights. JD will usually take about 2 major naps during the day, otherwise when he's up he's not very happy when you sit down for too long. He is constantly wanting to be moved.

I ref on Tuesday nights, I have a meeting or two during the week (this week I have about 3), and work at the hotel on Monday nights, and sometimes Saturday nights. JD goes to bed at 9 every night, sometimes earlier, and that's when I try and get as much as I can done from the day. Homework comes first if I didn't have the opportunity to get it done during the day, then I wash the dishes, if there's laundry to be folded I fold them, and I try to clean the house as much as I can. Unfortunately, a lot of the stuff, such as putting away the laundry or cleaning the house goes undone. There's always some sort of homework to do at night, and I am left with three options to choose from before it's time for bed: cleaning the house, putting the laundry away, or doing the dishes. I don't remember the last time I went to bed before 11pm, and I can't remember the last time I slept in past 8am.

JD has been sleeping very well though. He falls almost instantaneously when we put him down in his crib, he'll wake up once to eat, and then wakes up anywhere from 6:30-8, it's usually about 7am. We have been told many times that we have such an easy, and good baby. We don't know the difference though.

Being a mom is challenging, but I know the Lord won't give us a challenge/trial we can't handle. There are days where I will feel so overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done. I stress out about homework, I stress out about not getting anything cleaned in the apartment. However, I am beginning to learn that spending time with JD is more important than anything else. He is going to grow up before I know it, and if I let these moments pass, I know I will regret it. I'm still learning how to balance my life. I am definitely learning time management all over again. I'm trying to get as much done as I can while JD takes his naps, or is asleep in bed. There's little time to myself these days, but I know there will be plenty when I'm old and become an empty nester. I feel blessed that we have the opportunity to get to be parents, no matter how hard it can be sometimes, and that we get to know JD. We're so excited to see what he'll become, but at the same time I want him to stay cute and cuddly forever. :) I'm so excited to be done with school and have one less thing to worry about.

In Summary: I love being a mom. :)

Does JD finally like his baseball? Or has he finally grabbed on to it because he is at that stage where he is grabbing and eating things now? I think it's the second option. I'm sure Justin will say otherwise. This kid makes me laugh. He loves grabbing on to things and sticking them in his mouth, especially his hands. Lately, he's been trying to fit both his fists into his mouth... he hasn't succeeded at it, not that I'm complaining!

He's also slowly starting to hold his neck up, when we sit him down on our laps. He can usually hold it for about a few seconds before he tilts his head forward or backwards. We need to start doing tummy time more often... however, I am such a sucker when he starts to cry. I can't stand it, it breaks my heart. But, tummy time needs to be done! I want this kid to be strong and advanced in his physical capabilities. :P

Meet Panda

So, recently we gave JD a little "beanie baby panda" that my parents brought up with them when they came to visit/help when JD was first born. He has clinged to that sucker pretty well, maybe it's just because he likes to grab and hang on to things now. However, Justin tries even harder to try and get JD to hold on to his baseball, but that thing is still bigger than his head. So for now, it sits quietly in the corner of his crib.

Every once in a while Justin tries to place the baseball on top of him while he's sleeping... But for now, JD is loving Panda.

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, my Grandmas and to my Mother-in-law!

My mom, as Korean as she is, I love her to death. We have had many moments that have made me laugh so hard because she was unable to understand the meaning behind it, or just said something completely funny without knowing. (I mean this is the best possible way mom! I love you!) :) We have always had our ups and downs, but I'm so grateful for the love and support, and especially with pushing me to practice the piano. Raising JD has made me think a lot about how she raised us and all that she has done. I respect her so much for it, and I hope you know that I love you so very much. You are the best mom anyone could ask for! :)

To Kelly, I'm so grateful that you're my mother-in-law and that I get along with you! Not many women are able to say that. You have been so helpful in so many ways, and I love that you are so crafty! I have someone to turn to when I need help with a project! I love being a part of your family, and am grateful for everything you have done for us, and raising an amazing son!

We definitely can't wait to be back at home and be close to our Mom's, especially so that JD can spend time with the grand mommies.

It's kind of weird that it's my first mother's day, but Justin has been great. He bought me this beautiful heart bracelet, and made dinner tonight and helped out with a few chores. :) I hope that when our kids are older, they'll make me breakfast in bed on Mother's Day (to Justin: hint hint!) :) I love being a mom, and am excited to be done with school so that I have one less thing to worry about, and focus more of my attention to my cute little baby. I feel so blessed to have JD in my life, he makes me learn patience and time management! Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there! You truly are amazing!

JD loves grabbing stuff now when we put it in front of him. This is how he "picked" out what he was going to wear before bed, and when I asked Justin the next day to take a picture of him in it, JD decided he was going to pee all over himself while Justin changed his diaper, and before he could snap a picture of him... I should've done it the night before. Next time!

Lately...

I feel like we have been pretty busy, this week for me at least. This semester, Justin is taking on the role of co-coordinator of Competitive Sports Marketing, while taking 15 credits and working. I just recently decided that I wanted to be a part of the program, and Justin got me in and I'll be doing the publicity for Sports Marketing. I don't really "work" for Justin, I work for another girl who reports to him. This fulfills a practicum credit for me which goes towards my major, and this will be my second one out of three! This makes me happy. :) So now, I am currently taking 10 credits (almost a full time student), working on Friday evenings, and occasional Saturdays, and just picked up another "job"... reffing soccer for BYU-Idaho's inter mural games. I'd obviously do it when Justin would be at home to look after JD. Luckily, our good friend, Hannah loves babysitting JD and will take him in times of need. We are sooooo grateful!

Just the other day, we thought we'd get JD a "lay and play" thingy to try and get him interested in toys. I don't know if he really likes it just yet, but I hope that he'll get into it! Here he is playing with his new toy, and some other cute pictures:

Life is busy in the McKissick House, but we're doing all we can to graduate as fast as we can and get the heck out of here!!! We hope that once school is over and done with, we get to go home to California. We're crossing our fingers!

3 Months

I can't believe my baby boy is already 3 months old! My how time seems to pass by so fast. He is such a smiley baby, when you make the right faces, and such a slobbery one! He's been eating like a champ the last two weeks. A few weeks ago, he may have caught a little bug and had a stuffy nose. The doctor said he probably wasn't eating as much because he couldn't breath while he was eating. But for now, he's doing great. I hope he'll start gaining more weight, and hopefully getting taller... ::fingers crossed::

JD is doing pretty well with the whole sleeping in his crib thing. He's definitely got a pattern down. There were a few nights where he either feel asleep before his bedtime, or went down quietly and fell asleep soon after. I love those nights. Last night, however, he just would not stay asleep for very long, but he was ok with staying in his crib, as long as his bink was in his mouth. If it wasn't, he'd fuss a little bit and of course woke me up every time... Justin, however slept soundly throughout the entire night of course. It's so nice that we have at least two hours to relax and get stuff done before we go to bed and not worry about him for those 2 hours. He does very well at sleeping through the night though. He still wakes up once to eat, and goes right back to sleep. It's lovely, and we still love him!

Slowly, but Surely

JD had his 2 month doctor's appointment on Tuesday, which also meant he got his shots. :( However, the nurses said he did a really good job. As soon as I picked him up to hold him, he stopped crying. It looked painful. JD now weighs at 10 lbs 10 1/2 oz, and is 23 inches long! He is in the very low percentile for everything... he doesn't even reach the 20th percentile. I guess it's to be expected since I am not very tall/big myself. JD has been cooing a lot lately. Every morning (at least when I don't have anything to do early in the day), I prop him on my legs so that we're both looking at each other, and he smiles and will "talk" to me. It makes waking up early a little more... "enjoyable" (for lack of a better word).

We recently decided that it was time to have JD get use to his crib. He has been sleeping with us whenever he cries and doesn't want to sleep by himself, and since we're exhausted, we were too lazy to stay up and wait til he was finally asleep to put him back into his crib, we just kept him with us in bed (I know... not the best idea). So, we've been having him cry it out. I caved in the first few nights, but last night was the first time I didn't cave. I was very tempted, but Justin made sure I would stand my ground. He cried for about an hour until he finally went to sleep. He then woke up at 4:30 to eat, and immediately went back to sleep so it was easy to put him back into his crib. At 6, he woke up again, and kept going in and out of sleep for the next two hours, meaning he would cry every time he'd wake up, and we were pretty tired. :( I'll be excited for the day he goes to sleep in his crib and only cries for a few minutes and falls right to sleep. I'll be even more excited when he falls asleep soundly in his crib. (Will that ever happen?) Here's to the next few weeks (hopefully no longer than that), without a decent nights sleep again. We Love California!

Justin, JD, and I all traveled down to California for our spring break this last week. It was so much fun, it always makes me sad when it ends. We love visiting family, and it made it more fun this time around because most of our families had not yet met JD. We actually did a lot, so I’ll try and sum it up so this post won’t be too long and boring.

Friday: We caught a 5:00 am shuttle down to the Salt Lake Airport. We were worried about JD, but once again, he was a great travel buddy! He even slept the entire plane ride. We were on the same flight as Rachel and our nephew Dean, who is getting so big, we could not believe it!

That afternoon, the grandkids and Grammy and Gramps (my in-laws) took family photos. It was quite the adventure, it was hard to get the kiddies to cooperate for the pictures. JD did well of course, only because he just sat there like a log. After dinner, we got to visit with my family.

Saturday: In celebration of Gerry’s 60^th birthday, he had put on his “bucket list” that he wanted to go sky diving! Only four of the parents went (Gerry, Jeff, Rachel, and Justin). I didn’t want to at first, but when I saw them geared up and everything, I wanted to go. It looked like a lot of fun. Justin absolutely loved it, and wants to do it again. After sky diving, we went to Benihanas. I hadn’t been there since I was a kid. It was delicious!

Sunday: It was JD’s baby blessing! The after party was in celebration of JD, as well as Sophie and Gerry’s birthday. Of course, the famous taquitos were present, and so delicious!

Monday: We some shopping for birthday presents, went out to lunch with Tammy and the girls, rested, and went out to dinner with my parents. They took us on a shopping spree. J JD got soooo many clothes, he was very spoiled! Thanks Mom and Dad!

Tuesday: It was our neice, Sophie’s, birthday! We went over for a delicious dinner, and hung out with Sophie and the gang. We were going to play the kinect, since we had just gotten the “Just Dance” and “Michael Jackson Experience” game, but apparently we needed some sort of adaptor for the Xbox. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this until very late in the night, when all the stores were closed. We were all very disappointed. But, Justin and I did play the Michael Jackson Experience a little bit today. Even though my dancing skills are awful and laughable, it was still lots of fun.

Wednesday: We went to San Francisco with Justin’s friend Alex, and his girly friend. We went to Alcatraz and hung out at Pier 39. My parents took JD for the night, and we got the trip eventually became a double date! We haven’t done that in a long time (at least that’s what it feels like). It was nice to not have to worry about a baby, but I still missed him. It must be that motherly instinct.

Thursday: We didn’t do too much this day, except for visit my grandma, and my parents took us out for dinner once again. This was the last night we would see them for the week. I think JD wore them out the night before, we didn’t pick him up until 12am… I felt kind of bad, since we said we’d pick him up at 11pm. The date ran a little bit longer than expected. Sorry guys!

Friday: We ran a couple errands, and then went to the A’s game. It wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t go, and plus, it was a perfect way to celebrate Gerry’s actual birthday! It was JD’s first game, and he was asleep pretty much the entire game.

Saturday: We left a little after 7:30 am. I was really sad to leave, but we were driving to Salt Lake City, and I was also really worried about the long drive for JD. We were worried that he’d be upset for a good part of the drive, but he did so well! He was fussy every now and again, but we expected that, and he had every right to be! For the most part, he was asleep. He’s such a good traveler!

Today/Sunday: We arrived home, and as sad as it is to be back in Rexburg, we’re just glad to be off the road. I’m sure if JD could talk, he’d say he’s thrilled. We have such a good baby, and I love this kid more and more each day.

Museum of Idaho Trip

Yesterday, we decided to go visit the Museum of Idaho in between conference sessions. The museum was focusing on "bodies". I had been wanting to go all week ever since Justin told me they had real cadavers on display! Odd, I know, that I would be interested in cadavers... but when Justin said they were working/examining them for his Anatomy class, it sounded kind of interesting. The cadavers they had in the museum pretty much only focused on the muscle aspects of the body, nothing too gross. It was actually pretty fascinating. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of going around JD's feeding time, so he was fussing the entire time.

I don't know what it is, but I find it rather annoying when people you don't know only assume the reason why your baby is crying is because they're hungry! Once we got to the museum, JD immediately started crying, and we fed him at the beginning. He continued to cry and just didn't seem to happy. After Justin had looked around the museum, he took a seat and tried to calm JD down. I was pushing the stroller, and it was a little difficult to maneuver around with so many people there. So I left the stroller with Justin, and looked around the museum by myself. When I came back, I saw this old lady, who didn't seem like she was all there in the head... and then asked if the reason why JD was crying was because he was hungry. Justin told her we had just fed him... and I don't know why, but it really bugged me. We know our kid, and I don't want some stranger telling us what to do. I know she was only suggesting it, but it's happened a few times before with strangers. I don't mind people we know suggesting these things, but for some reason not random people.

Another thing about this lady I didn't know about until Justin told me once we left the museum is she asked if she could hold JD!!! Justin felt pretty awkward, and responded, "maybe..." and let her hold him, and once she held him he immediately started crying! Good work JD! :) He knows to cry when crazy people hold him! JK! :) But seriously... this lady was odd. I don't trust people I don't know... and I don't think I should. Anyway... that's my rant. Sorry, just needed to get it out of my system. Anyways, we had an enjoyable day!

Oh yeah! And because yesterday was the A's opening day, Justin made me put these clothes on him:

At first, I had him in another outfit, and when I showed Justin, he asked if I was "April Fooling" him. I completely forgot it was the A's opening day, and Justin made me change him!! =/ We were pretty sad we weren't back at home in California at the Coliseum. Only 5 more days 'til we're back in lovely California!!! I'm so excited!!!

"Daddy & Me" time and Bath Time

I hope I don't sound like a bad person or mom when I say this, but I had no idea I would love this baby so much! I'm a little scared that I won't love the second baby (or maybe the third, or fourth???) as much as this little guy. Although, I'm sure the love will all equal out. He's a lot of fun to hang out with, unless he's fussy, and I love that he's beginning to smile more often.

Time is Flying By

At least to me... I guess that's to be expected when you start having kids. I am loving motherhood more than I thought I would, although I think it helps when you think you have a very cute baby. I also hate leaving him to go to work. :( Although, I think I appreciate the time with JD more now that I'm gone (not that I didn't before).

JD is now 7 weeks, and he's definitely beginning to look a little bit older more and more each week. We haven't been to the doctor yet, but we were able to get some stats and learned that he was 9 lbs 6 ounces, and is in the 75 percentile for height! Apparently he's tall for his age... (which is something I hardly believe), and wonder how long it's going to last. I remember I was taller than a lot of people when I was in the beginning stages of elementary school, but by the 6th grade, my growth spurt had either begun to slow down very slowly, or just completely stopped. I have very high hopes that my children will be tall, but I know that it is more than likely impossible since both sides of genetics aren't very tall either. There's nothing wrong with a little faith, right? :)

Well, after 6 weeks of nothing but looking after our son and working on homework, I am back to work. Fortunately, it's not a demanding job, and there was no one to check out today. It was nice, since I was able to focus on my homework, and now I get to worry about nothing but the baby. Even though i find it somewhat of an escape, I've missed him all day. I would much rather be with him than come to work. But, I'm grateful I still have a job.

Slam Dunk Contest

The Slam Dunk Contest is finally over!! As a few of you know, Justin was in charge of running BYU-Idaho's Slam Dunk Contest this year, and he had been really busy as the event got closer. The week of the event, it seemed as if he was never home because he not only had to market and prepare for the event, he still had class, and work. Being a new mom and all, it was really hard for me to be by myself and not have someone else to hand JD off to when he was being fussy. But, I'm glad it's all over now, and the show turned out great!

I wish I had taken some pictures of the event, or the newspaper on campus had at least written something about it. It did every other event that happened this last weekend, except the Slam Dunk Contest. :( I'll sum it up for you. There was a 3-point shoot out for both men and women, a little man's dunk contest, and then the slam dunk contest itself (for those 6' and up). I had 2 favorite parts of the show. I liked the little man's dunk because they were way more creative. There was one that was absolutely hillarious to me. It was a "parody" of this:

He ended up winning the little man's dunk contest. Another favorite part of the show was one of the performers, called Proform Airborne. They were absolutely amazing! People were standing on their feet cheering them on. Here's another video I found online performing at another event.

All in all, it was a fun and exciting event! Good work Justin! :)

JD is going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow, and I have enjoyed every minute of it (minus his late nights and never ending fussiness on some days). He's beginning to smile while he is awake, and has smiled at us many times. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :D We love him so much and think he's the cutest baby ever!! He is such a strong baby though. Aside from his strong neck, he has some strong legs. Every once in a while he'll stand, with assistance of course. We have no idea what's normal for a baby, and what's not, but we're just excited to have him in our lives.

Yay for Free Jazz Tickets!

We're not Jazz fans, nor am I a big basketball fan myself, but when the opportunity to see them came along, neither of us could turn down it down. After all, if it meant Justin could skip work "legally" to see them, he was definitely going to take advantage of it.

So, how did we get Jazz tickets for $144 each for free you ask? Well, yesterday Justin's supervisor called him and asked him what he was doing for the night. Justin answered and said, "Working for you...." He was then asked if he wanted to go see the Jazz game, and asked whether or not I wanted to go. (Apparently, his company gives away Jazz tickets every so often because the owner is a huge Jazz fan). Confused, I reminded him about work, and he said it was his supervisor on the phone offering the tickets. Without hesitation, I immediately said yes! It was nice that Justin was able to have the night off and we got to spend it together as a family, since he rarely seems to be home. JD did awesome on the way down, and slept for about 2 1/2 hours straight out of the 3 1/2 hour drive. Then he got hungry, and slept again after that.

The game was so close at the end, and almost went into overtime. Luckily it didn't, since it was close to 11pm. We got to the place we were staying at around midnight (Thank you again to Tammy's parents!!) JD once again did amazing at the game! We're blessed with a very cooperative baby.

Today, we went to eat at Kneaders, which is absolutely delish! With Justin's long time friend, Matt, and then went to visit with Justin's Aunt who got JD overalls!! I was very excited for them since I wanted to get JD a pair because we live in Idaho, but Justin refused. We feel bad that JD was born here, in middle of nowhere Idaho, but we're hoping we get to go back to California so he can say he grew up there.

It seemed to be a very busy trip for a short amount of time. JD once again did really good on the trip home. He was even up for an hour during the ride. There were only two times where he got really upset. The last hour he was awake he cried himself to sleep, and the last half hour of the trip he just could not stand his car seat any longer... who could blame him? It's good to be home though after a quick, yet busy trip. I'm sure JD's happy he no longer has to be in his car seat for that long amount of time... at least for a while.

4 Weeks

JD turned 4 weeks/1 month old on Monday, and now weighs 8.6 lbs... that is according to our scale here at home. Nothing new going on with our little family. JD doesn't have another doctor's appointment until he's 2 months, and at that point he'll be getting his shots. :( Here's more pictures for you to enjoy!
